The countdown to Halloween has begun, and with only 3 days to go, we thought it most appropriate that this week’s Wine of the Week follow in the spirit of ‘Hallowine’!
With Halloween falling at the same time as the end of the harvest, it’s time to start thinking about those full blood reds and ghostly pale whites.
This week we have selected two wines of the week, two reds, both deep and dark in flavour and aroma.
The first, from the Argentinian region of Mendoza, The Beef Steak Club, Meaty Malbec. A vibrant Malbec with an intense plum nose and hints of dark chocolate. Spicy and richly layered with well integrated oak allows for the flavours and textures to intensify.
The second from the Western Cape in South Africa, The Rib Shack Red Pinotage Shiraz. A bold and expressive blend, with style and complexity of juicy dark fruit flavours blended with hints of smooth espresso.
Both these wines are a perfect choice this Halloween for all the vampires, werewolves and carnivores who plan on indulging on a feast of delicious meats… sticky ribs, rich casseroles stewed over a cauldron, rib racks and juicy rare steaks.
